The Financial Times published an article on the 4th saying that Saudi Aramco, the world's largest oil company, said that the technology of DeepSeek, a Chinese artificial intelligence company, has brought "huge changes" to the company and helped it improve operational efficiency. The article excerpt is as follows:
Saudi Aramco's flagship data center has introduced DeepSeek's technology. Saudi Aramco CEO Amin Nasser said on the 4th that the algorithms and software developed by DeepSeek are "undoubtedly a very interesting technological innovation" and are helping the company improve efficiency and reduce the amount of resources required to complete the same tasks.
DeepSeek released the open source model DeepSeek-R1 in January this year. Nasser said: "The technology of this Chinese company has indeed brought huge changes in how to benefit from existing computing systems and maximize their value." Nasser said that Saudi Aramco is investing heavily in the field of artificial intelligence and has reached cooperation with "all major high-tech companies."
Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries are actively working with technology companies to advance their artificial intelligence infrastructure. For example, Saudi Arabia's venture capital department invested in the Chinese artificial intelligence company Zhipu AI last year.
