Recently, Dow Chemical announced that it has completed the previously announced transaction and successfully sold its flexible packaging composite adhesive business within its packaging and specialty plastics division to Arkema, a global leader in specialty materials, for $150 million.
It is understood that the sale was announced on May 2, 2024, and the sale includes Dow's five production bases in Italy, the United States and Mexico, and the business includes solvent-based and solvent-free laminating adhesives and heat-sealing coatings product portfolios.
However, Dow retains water-based composite adhesives, acrylic adhesives, and adhesive solutions in the fields of Dow Consumer Solutions and MobilityScience™, which remain at the core of its growth and sustainable development strategy.
Dow's flexible packaging adhesives business has annual sales of approximately $250 million and provides a wide range of high-quality solutions for food, medical applications, and industrial lamination (window films, photovoltaic backsheets, etc.).
